The GOP's Top 10

A Gallup poll conducted at the end of 2008 indicates the forerunners for the Republican candidate for the 2012 presidential election. The poll is several months old, but I think the data is still relevant and accurate, considering the election is three years away. The data indicates that Sarah Palin is in fact the forerunner, closely followed by Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee. Please see my past posts on Palin and check back soon for my thoughts on Romney, Huckabee, and other potential candidates.

  1. Generally, I find it really difficult to tell who will run in elections. The next GOP candidate - I think is really difficult to see. There is a "re-vamping" of the party happening. The GOP has fine line to walk. Do they run closer to the base? If not, how do they keep the base?

I think we will be seeing Bobby Jindal more and more. I don't know about Palin. Time will tell if the conservatives believe she helped or hurt in the last election.

  2. Really? Palin? ...and how is Gulliani still on the list?... we'll have to discuss this in person, but I'm surprised.

  3. I like the new graphic you put on top. I think it is way to early to indicate who people are going to go with in the next election. Mostly people thought Hilary was going to be the democratic nominee, but out of no where came Obama! She has many supporters on the GOP side, but we just have to see what happens. If she is going to be the candidate in 2012, some republican politicians need to stop bashing her, and come together as a political party.

  4. I'm a Romney fan myself. He's had success in the public and private sector, and really, should be the one handling the economic 'crisis' we have on our hands right now. Unfortunately, we get The Chosen One. Heaven help us. I like Palin, and she still has a lot of support amongst conservatives. I guess we'll see.

  5. I like Paul Ryan, especially after his recent 'alternative budget' deal. He seems to be a real Reagan conservative, clearly likeable and a great communicator. He's still a new name on the national scene though, look him up here -

  6. I dont think that the GOP is a big Palin fan anymore. I am not sure if this is corect but wasn't she replaced by someone else to speak at the GOP dinner. I think that if the GOP wants to have a strong party they need to get there act together and start worrying about issues that consern the people. I have heard many republicans speak or give interviews and the way they speak is really immature using the word "stupid" and being so hateful. Where is the so called christian in them. They want to run this country on the word God and the bible. It is not going to happen. THey can't even follow there ideals themselves.
